Start with your child’s age, what currently holds their attention and the colours or characters that suit the nursery. Our Shop by stage guide gives you a simple starting point, and you can adjust from there.
Everything parents ask before a mobile goes up.
Straight answers about choosing, fitting, changing and caring for an Aven & Oak baby mobile.
Choosing your mobile
Start with the room, your child’s stage and what currently holds their attention.
Each design has its own characters, colour palette and arrangement of shapes. Check the product page for the exact dimensions, materials, fitting method and everything included.
Yes. Tell us the colours, room style and characters you have in mind. A photograph of the room can help us understand the space, but please remove any personal information before sending it.
The product page lists the exact mobile, hanging pieces, frame or fitting parts included with that design. Check that list before ordering because contents can vary between products.
Age and visual stage
Age gives you a starting point. Attention tells you what to try next.
A baby mobile can be used from birth when it is installed securely and kept completely out of reach. Always follow the instructions supplied with your chosen design.
The stages are a visual guide based on age and attention. They are a starting point, not a test. Choose the stage closest to your child’s age, then follow the colours and shapes they enjoy looking at now.
A baby sees the mobile from underneath. Downward facing details make the shapes more meaningful from that position instead of only looking decorative from the doorway.
Our visual stage guide finishes at 12+ months. As reaching and movement increase, move the mobile fully out of reach and use it only as nursery decor. Stop using it anywhere your child can reach, pull or climb towards it.
Setup and safety
A beautiful nursery detail starts with the right fixing and a position completely out of reach.
No. Check the product measurements and fitting method against your cot or intended fixing point before ordering. The support must be stable and compatible with the instructions.
Use the position and distance stated in the supplied fitting instructions. The complete mobile and every hanging part must remain securely out of reach at all times.
Move or remove the mobile as soon as your baby can push up, sit, stand or reach towards it, or whenever the fixing point no longer feels secure. Inspect it regularly and stop using it if any part becomes loose or damaged.
Only use a ceiling fitting when the product is designed for that installation and you have the correct fixing for the ceiling material. Follow the supplied instructions and seek qualified help if you are unsure.
Materials and care
Simple materials still deserve thoughtful care, especially around the nursery.
Materials vary by design. Product pages identify the crochet fibres, wood and other components used in that specific mobile so you can check them before ordering.
Our crocheted characters are made by hand, which means small variations are part of their character. Check the product description for the construction details of the design you are considering.
The hanging pieces respond gently to natural air movement in the room. There is no motor, charging cable or continuous mechanical motion.
Follow the care instructions supplied with your design. Dust gently and use only the recommended spot cleaning method. Do not soak wooden parts or place the assembled mobile in a washing machine.

Returns and support
Clear next steps when a delivery is not quite right or you simply need a person to ask.
Yes. Our 30 day First Gaze Guarantee covers standard mobiles that do not hold your child’s attention or feel right for your family. Contact us within 30 days of delivery and return every component clean and undamaged. A mobile that has simply been enjoyed and outgrown is not covered.
Contact us as soon as you can with your order number and a clear photograph of the issue. Keep the packaging until we have reviewed what happened and explained the next step.
Personalised and made to order pieces are not covered by the First Gaze Guarantee or ordinary change of mind returns. This does not affect your rights if the item is faulty, damaged or not as described.
Use our Contact us page and choose the topic that best matches your question. An order number is helpful for existing orders but is never required for pre purchase advice.
